How to Zero Your Red Dot
A proper zero ensures your point of aim matches your point of impact, giving you greater consistency and confidence every time you shoot.
Before you begin, make sure your optic is securely mounted and all mounting screws are properly tightened.
Key Steps
1. Start at 5 Yards
Begin at 5 yards to establish your initial zero. Starting close makes it easier to identify your point of impact and make larger corrections.
2. Move to 10 Yards
Once your shots are consistently centered at 5 yards, move back to 10 yards and continue making small adjustments.
3. Confirm Your Zero
Fire 3–5 shot groups and adjust windage and elevation until your point of aim matches your point of impact.
4. Verify at Your Preferred Distance
After establishing a solid zero, confirm it at your preferred shooting distance. Many shooters choose 15 yards, while others prefer 25 yards depending on their shooting style and intended use. The best zero is the one that gives you the most confidence and consistency.
Every shooter has different preferences, and there isn't a single "correct" zeroing distance. Watch the video below for a complete step-by-step walkthrough and practical tips to help you find the zero that works best for you.
